weight of the overhanging cornice will be amply counter-balanced

by the weight of the flat roof which will extend from the internal

wall to the outer wall. I fear that the insertion of the 8" x 6"

joist as proposed will create difficulties in the construction of

the roof gutter and I think it would be wise to adhere to the

arrangement shewn on the Coloni al drawing. It is unfortunate

that the Colonial Drawing does not shew a section through this

part of the roof.

4. As regards delivery it would suffice if the first floor

ironwork and the columns could be despatched at an early date,

a longer period being allowed for the ironwork of the roof.

5. I regret that I have been unable to reply sooner, to your

letter as I have been travelling a great deal lately. I do not

anticipate being in London before the beginning of November.

6.

Three drawings returned herewith.

Yours &c.,
